Writing 101; Assignment 7                                     9/23/14

Write a post based on the contrast between two things — whether people, objects, emotions, places, or something else.

Today’s twist: write your post in the form of a dialogue.

As the threesome left the job-site, walking swiftly to Bill’s truck, Joey shouted out “let’s go get us some pizza dude”.

“Neah,” Bill replied with a gruff voice that belied his gentleness “Burgers”.

“Duuuuuude, that’s all you ever want! How can you not want a piece of pizza pie” Joey asked, using a terrible Italian accent for the last. “That salty, chewy crust, doused with robust pizza sauce, piled high with peppers, and onions, garlic and mushrooms, ohhh and pepperoni, glorious pepperoni… “

“Burgers” Bill interrupted “meat, bun, pickles, mayo, done”. He finished, aiming the truck toward his favorite diner.

Joey didn’t miss a beat, continuing his pitch “sausage, red peppers and parm, you can’t go wrong with Parmesan dude. The Ital’s really knew what they were doing when they made Parmesan”.

“I’ll tell Gladys to slap some on your burger” Bill grunted, as he considered relenting. They did eat at the diner a lot.

“But Mama’s Pizzeria has those deep-fried cheese sticks and jojos and those fantastic bread sticks with the extra… “ Joey continued unabashedly.

“The diner has pie” Bill countered.

“Well Mama’s has cheesecake and that’s like pie, cheese pie; and they have cannoli with coffee cream…” Joey interjected as Bill continued, talking over him “and the diner has better coffee”.

Before Joey could speak up, Rick, who had remained characteristically silent as his friends hashed out meal plans, quickly interjected a single word.

The truck fell silent for half a beat.

“Tacos” Joey happily repeated as Bill geared down and made a U-turn toward the food truck on Main, smiling contentedly in anticipation.
